This Privacy Policy explains what BookYearn collects, why, and the choices you have. We collect as little as possible and never sell your personal data.
Your display name and sign-in identifier (your Apple ID or email); the selfie you choose for your avatar; your reading activity and preferences (the stories you read, narration voice, reading theme); your membership and points status; an optional device token if you allow notifications; and standard technical and diagnostic data needed to run the app reliably.
Your selfie is used only to craft your stylised avatar — an illustrated likeness. We never display your real photo anywhere in the app and don't use it to identify you across services. It is processed by our image provider solely to generate your avatar and is not kept beyond what that requires.
To create your avatar, generate, personalise and narrate your stories, deliver your daily page, run your membership and points, and keep the app secure. We do not sell your personal data.
To write your story, narrate it, and paint its scenes, your name, taste choices and prompts are sent to our AI providers, and generated content passes automated safety moderation. These providers process your inputs only to return results for you.
Memberships are purchased through Apple. Apple processes the payment; we receive your subscription status and a transaction identifier from Apple — never your card details.
If you allow notifications, we use a device token to send a gentle nudge when your daily page unlocks. You can turn notifications off at any time in iOS Settings, and we stop sending them.
We share data only with the providers that help us run BookYearn — secure hosting and database, media storage, AI text, voice and image generation and moderation, and Apple for sign-in, payments and push — under contracts that limit their use to providing those services, or when required by law.
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from Settings; this permanently erases your account, your stories, your avatar, and your associated data, and cannot be undone.
You can access and edit your profile, re-cast your avatar, change your narration voice and reading theme, and permanently delete everything from Settings. For any other privacy request, email support@bookyearn.app.
BookYearn is intended for adults (18+). We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under the age required by their jurisdiction.
